WILLOWS ELKS LODGE - Most valuable student scholarship: The Elks Scholarship is now available online at ELKS.org. You need not be related to a member of the Elks to apply. Male and female students compete separately. You will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. Students advance through local, district and state competitions to reach national judging. Deadline is December 6, 2013.
YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP: Are you a student who has started their own business? This is a $1,000 scholarship. The applicant must be a high school senior who is entering his or her freshman year at an accredited two-or four-year university, college, or vocational institute in the fall of 2014, and who owns/operates an established business. The Award recipients are selected by an independent scholarship organization and are merit-based, not based on financial need. Apply online at www.NFIB.com/YEA. Deadline is December 17, 2013.
2013 JOHN F. KENNEDY PROFILE IN COURAGE ESSAY CONTEST: First place winner receives $5,000 cash award and $5,000 to grow in a John Hancock Freedom 529 College Savings Plan. Second place winner receives $1,000 cash award and up to five finalists each receive $500 cash award. All high school students grades nine through twelve are eligible. An essay of 1,000 words or less demonstrating an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in Course is required. CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF COLLECTORS, INC: This scholarship is opened to all seniors for the use at any accredited college, university or vocational school. First place will receive $2,500, second place $2,000 and third place $1,500. The awards can be used by the students toward tuition, fees or books. A one-page application and a 700-1000 word essay on "Importance of Establishing and Maintaining Good Credit during Your College Years, is required. VIRGINIA MILITARY INSTITUTE: If you are interested in attending a military college, VMI has a scholarship program you may apply for. The application process requires a completed application for VMI, a completed Scholarship Application form, a resume and two short essays. You can receive $5,000 per academic year up to and including the full cost of tuition and fees To apply for the scholarship you must have a combined SAT of 1350 or ACT of 30, and a high school GPA of 3.7. MARIST TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIPS: If you are interested in majoring in Computer Science or Information Technology and Systems Marist college is taking applications. They offer 17 four year tuition, room and board Technology Scholarships for students enrolling in the fall 2014 semester. The application for admission can be found at www.marist.edu/admission. Deadline is February 1, 2014.
CHRISTERMON FOUNDATION: The California Beverage Industry offers scholarships in amounts from $2,000 to $5,000 to qualified graduating high school seniors who will be attending a four-year or two-year college. Scholarships will be awarded to children, grandchildren, or legal guardians, of persons who currently hold full-time employment with, or who are proprietor of, a company holding a valid California Liquor, beer or wine license. An application and an essay must be submitted. You must have a 3.00 GPA to qualify for this scholarship. Please see the Counseling Office for an application and more information. Deadline is February 1, 2014.
CALIFORNIA WINE GRAPE GROWERS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship is now available in the Counseling Office. They are offering two-four year scholarships worth $8,000 and four two-year scholarships worth $2,000 for graduating seniors. To be considered the student must be a child of workers employed by winegrape growers. To apply you need to fill out the application, submit a transcript and test scores and provide a letter of recommendation along with a 500 word essay. ABBOTT AND FENNER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: This is a $1,000 scholarship, available to all high school students. An essay is required and must be 500-1000 words. Please go to the website www.abottandfenner.com/scholarships Deadline is June 14, 2014
PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY: is offering scholarships to all college-bound students living within the PG &E service area. There are numerous scholarships with different criteria for each. To apply students need to complete the basic scholarship application and complete the supplemental application for each specific scholarship. A.W. BODINE-SUNKIST MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is now available in the Counseling Office or your may go on-line at www.sunkist.com. If you are planning to attend an accredited college to pursue a course of study leading to a degree, this scholarship is available. The award may vary but it averages $2,000 per academic year. Qualifications are as follows:
1. The student or someone in the student's immediate family must have derived the majority of his or her income from agriculture.
2. Financial need; and
3. GPA and extracurricular activities indicative of potential success

BIGSUN SCHOLARSHIP: The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. We are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All Senior student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in. You will need to send a short essay answering the following question: What has your participation in sports affected who you are and how you relate to others?
